Askeaton Contemporary Arts’ artist residency programme situates Irish and international artists in the midst of Askeaton life each summer, alongside thematic exhibitions, publications and events that further the potential for artistic energy, the making of place and innovative ecological thinking. Artists work in public places typical of an Irish town – from our community hall to the River Deel, petrol stations, castle ruins and streets, evoking Askeaton’s reputation since medieval times of exchange, trade and as a place of cultural knowledge.
