Whooper Swan

Photograph, video (duration 6 minutes)
2006

In Whooper Swan, ideas of perception and disillusionment are explored. The beauty and grace of this bird in a still image is shattered by a video piece of the swan’s shrill sound as it feeds and fights amongst ducks and seagulls. This double take seems to scratch at the edge of artistic representation, simultaneously presenting the lures and pitfalls of preconceptions of images.
